CONCEPT
As a cellist, I wanted to be able to highlight orchestral instruments while keeping the performance interesting. Usually, bands consist of a drummer, bassist, guitarist, and singer. Since I would be performing with less mobile instruments, like cello and trumpet, I wanted to compensate by creating a more theatrical perofrmance. This would involve props, and a more theater-like set
I wanted to experiment with light and sound, to really make things interesting
REHEARSAL
During early performances I used my real cello, and just two lighting fixtures, though I'm constantly experimenting with adding more interesting fixtures/lasers to the show. One more recetn addition was the electric cello
I experimented with playing the electric cello wile singing, and also doing a version of a more EDM set.
On the left side, you can see I programmed my Monome to be performing device that allows me to chose between 256 songs to perform and remix real time.

On the right side, you can see a version of the performance with a singing and cello playing hybrid.
I brought in Matt and Ashley to hold the cello backing tracks down so I had more freedom to move and dance while performing. I use a clip microphone for singing and playing, that way I have freedom to move around the stage while also playing the cello during the most important highlight moments.

I am constantly experimenting with different iterations and versions of the show to see what is the most interesting and fun!
